‘Dragon Quest XI’ Special Edition Bundle Will Include a PS4 and 3DS Copy of The Game

Say what? Hot on the heels of release details for Dragon Quest XI, Square Enix has announced a Japan-only special edition bundle for the game. Titled the “Dragon Quest XI Double Pack: Hero Sword Box,” the bundle will contain copies of the game for both PS4 and 3DS, along with hollowed-out, book-style cases for each, both packed into a larger sword case. The bundle will cost ¥14,960, which comes out to roughly $135 USD.

According to IGN, the standalone PS4 and 3DS versions of the game will release alongside the special edition bundle on July 29, 2017 in Japan The PS4 version will be a high-resolution 3D game, while in the 3DS version, players will have the choice to play the game in either a low-resolution 3D mode or a 2D, classic-pixel-art mode.

It is worth noting that the previously announced Switch version of Dragon Quest XI was missing from the recent release trailer, despite it being confirmed for simultaneous release by Square Enix. When asked by IGN, Square Enix had no comment on Switch release.

There is currently no word on whether this PS4/3DS bundle will make its way westward.
