Yet another addition to the Switch lineup is coming our way! According to a series of tweets by @ThumperGame, Thumper will be launching on the Nintendo Switch eShop on May 18, 2017. The game will run at 1080p in docked mode and 720p in handheld mode, will run at a consistent 60 frames per second in either mode, and support HD Rumble.
Described by developer and publisher Drool as a “rhythm violence game,” Thumper sees the player as a “space beetle” vying to traverse the void to defeat a “maniacal giant head from the future.” Odd story content aside, the game has received many accolades and great review scores from multiple gaming news outlets (as it’s already out on PS4/PSVR, Oculus, and PC), so Drool seems to be doing something right with Thumper.
I’m typically not a huge rhythm or music gaming fan, so this is the first I’m hearing about Thumper, but the concept is certainly intriguing. If you’re like me and this is your first exposure to the game, you can view the launch trailer below.
