After some initial confusion, it’s now been confirmed that Team Shifty, the developer behind recently-launched Nintendo Switch eShop title Mr. Shifty, is currently working on a patch to resolve frame rate issues with the game (via Nintendo Life)..
We mentioned in our review of Mr. Shifty that the game did experience some frame rate hiccups in handheld mode and that they were more pronounced and occurred more frequently in docked mode, but other players have been noticing the frame rate drops as well. One user on Twitter reached out to Team Shifty on the issue, to which the team replied:
We're also a very small team. Compromise the experience by cutting stuff out or drop frames, we chose the latter. Hoping Unity improves

After trying to dodge that bullet, Team Shifty held a Reddit AMA session, where they continued to beat around the bush on the issue of frame rate. In the end, Alex Nichiporchik, CEO of tinyBuild, the game’s publisher, assured that the team is currently working on a patch for the Switch version to address the frame rate issue.
