A new trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has dropped today, featuring a new area called the Battle Agency but, more notably, that all the Team bosses from previous generations will be making a return, now known as Team Rainbow Rocket. What?
There’s no word yet on whether or not Team Rainbow Rocket factors into the main story, or if Team Skull plays into the team somehow, but in the new trailer and promo images, we see old faces such as Giovanni, Mattie, Archie, and Cyrus, among others. The trailer also features the Battle Agency, where you rent Pokémon to battle, as well as that you’ll be able to capture all Legendary Pokémon from the previous games via the new Ultra Wormhole feature.
I’m not sure how I feel about the name “Team Rainbow Rocket” or how any of this fits into the story. I do like, however, the callbacks to the older games, though I’m not sure why they’re allowing us to capture the old Legendary Pokémon when we can already do so in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire—perhaps it’s that The Pokémon Company wants to open up all Pokémon to newcomers to the series, or maybe we’ll finally get some Hidden Ability Legendaries? I suppose we’ll find out in a couple weeks.
