It’s finally happening! In an update to their website, Playtonic Games has announced their mascot 3-D platformer, Yooka-Laylee, will be releasing on Nintendo Switch on December 14, and will be available for pre-order on the Switch eShop starting December 7. The game is already available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Here’s what Playtonic Games had to say on the game’s Switch release:

The Playtonic team has spent many, many months optimising Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch (with technical help and support from Nintendo and Unity themselves!) and we believe we’re delivering a version Nintendo fans can be proud of.

Players can expect a quality experience both on and away from the television and on top of that, Switch players will benefit from the huge list of updates we’ve added since launch such as a brand new camera mode, control improvements, menu options, music… and a lot more!

Playtonic Game is also hosting a fan art contest to celebrate the launch on Switch.

I’ve played a bit of Yooka-Laylee on Xbox One, as I backed their Kickstarter campaign, but it’ll be awesome to see how the game hold up on Switch, especially in handheld mode. Be sure to check out the image gallery below, and come back for more coverage leading up to and after release!
