Rumor: ‘Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle’ Coming to Switch This Fall

The rumor mill is churning once again. The long-rumored Mario Rabbids crossover RPG is supposedly upon us. According to an unnamed source (via Jason Schreier at Kotaku), the game is titled Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and it will launch this fall on Nintendo Switch.

Kotaku’s source allegedly sent the site art assets from the upcoming game, which will feature Mario and friends alongside characters from Ubisoft’s Rabbids series. According to the assets sent to Kotaku, the game is being developed using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. Additionally, the game will feature turn-based combat, two-player local co-op, and “a goofy sense of humor.”

The game will reportedly feature eight playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and four Rabbids dressed up as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach. Sure, why not?

The Mario Rabbids crossover rumor was originally reported by Laura Kate Dale, a journalist who also reported on a ton of Switch and other Nintendo rumors, which tended to be hit or miss. She seems to have been right on this one, if Kotaku’s source proves credible.

Given we haven’t actually seen any of this purported game’s assets, we obviously can’t say right now, one way or the other, whether this game actually exists. Given Jason Schreier’s credibility, though, I think it’s safe to say it’s going to happen. I’ve never played any games in the Rabbids series, but I’m down for any game featuring our beloved plumber. If this game proves to be true, I think it’s safe to say we can expect more at E3 2017, which is fast approaching.

What do you think of this rumor? Do you think this game will happen and, if so, would this be a game you’d be interested in on Switch? Let us know by leaving a reply!
