We finally have a release date! The joint group of Grey Box, Six Foot, and Tequila Works has announced the Nintendo Switch version of puzzle-adventure game RiME will be releasing on November 14 in the US and November 17 in Europe. The game will be available digitally for $29.99 / €34.99 / £29.99 and physically for $39.99 / €44.99 / £39.99. The physical version will come with a digital download code for the game’s soundtrack.

CEO and creative director at Tequila Works, Raúl Rubio Munárriz, had this to say on the release date announcement:

“As big fans of Nintendo, we truly appreciate our fans’ patience as Tantalus and Tequila Works continue working on RiME on Nintendo Switch; we are all committed to making sure all players get the high-quality experience they deserve.”

Taking inspiration from such media as The Little Prince, Studio Ghibli films, the art of Joaquín Sorolla, and the Mediterranean coast, RiME follows the adventures of a boy shipwrecked on an island, where the player will solve puzzles that use “light, sound, perspective and time.”

Back in May, RiME suffered from a bit of controversy when it was originally announced that the game would cost $10 more both digitally and physically on Nintendo Switch only (the game has since released on PS4 and Xbox One for $29.99), but Grey Box responded by lowering the digital price and adding a pack-in download code for the game’s soundtrack to the physical release.

I’m definitely happy to finally get a release date for RiME, and I think this sort of game is perfect for Switch, though it is a little disconcerting to have already waited this long for the game, only to have to wait even longer. Hopefully the wait will be worth it and the port will hold up on Switch.
