The mobile games just keep coming! According to a post from Serebii, the next installment in the Pokémon Rumble series, titled PokéLand, has been announced for Android and iOS devices. While there is yet no word on a release date, the game is currently undergoing Alpha testing in Japan on Android devices today through June 9, 2017. During the Alpha test, 134 different Pokémon can be found, and players can complete 52 stages and climb to the 15th floor of Champion Tower. Any saved data from the Alpha will not transfer over to the full game.

Players can link their Nintendo Account to PokéLand and move saved data between devices; Miis will also appear on connected accounts. The game’s currency is Diamonds, and players can spend Diamonds to unlock new islands. Additionally, the game will require a persistent online connection.

While I generally am not a fan of the various Pokémon spin-offs (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon Shuffle, etc.), I do enjoy the Pokémon Rumble series, having played both the original on Wii and Pokémon Rumble World on 3DS. I’m a little concerned as to how gameplay will work with touch controls, but if it’s a freemium title like Pokémon Rumble World, I’ll definitely give it a shot.

If you’re in Japan and you’re looking to participate in the Alpha test, The Pokémon Company has confirmed all spots are currently filled; however, more testing spots should open up as the test progresses, so check out the game’s official website for more details.
