‘Onimusha: Warlords’ Coming to Switch January 15, 2019

Capcom keeps supporting Switch! Today, the developer and publisher announced that Onimusha: Warlords, the hit samurai action game on PS2 and Xbox released back in 2001, is being remastered and will release on January 15, 2019. The game will come to Xbox One, PS4, Steam, and Nintendo Switch with a variety of updates. Onimusha: Warlords‘ upgrades include overhauled graphics, a widescreen display option, analog stick support, an Easy Mode, and a brand-new soundtrack.

For those who missed its original release, Onimusha: Warlords follows samurai Samanosuke Akechi and his ninja partner Kaede on a journey to save Princess Yuki from a demonic army following the evil Nobunaga Oda. Through bladed combat, a mystical Oni Gauntlet, and various environmental puzzles, players will need to pull out all the stops to conquer Nobunaga Oda and his demon army.

This was one of my favorite PS2 titles, so to have this come to current-gen consoles—including Switch!—will serve as a great trip down memory lane. To check out some of the action, be sure to watch the announcement trailer above, and while you’re at it, check out the image gallery below.
