‘Anew: The Distant Light’ Is Coming to Nintendo Switch

Get ready, for Nintendo Switch’s indie library is about to grow! Developer Resonator’s debut game, Anew: The Distant Light, is coming to Nintendo Switch. According to a recent Kickstarter update (via NintendoLife), the project recently met its $35,000 stretch goal to come to Nintendo Switch.

Here’s what Steve Copeland, co-founder of Resonator, had to say, in part, in the Kickstarter update:

“This is a commitment to full due diligence in planning for development of a Switch port. Their indie program currently appears to be very limited and they are not accepting many games. We anticipate that it will open for more developers at some point, but we will aggressively pursue it regardless. We will acquire dev kits, attempt to establish a developer relationship for the platform like we already have for PlayStation and Xbox, and we will analyze the hardware for technical constraints that we need to optimize around. Doing this early makes a Switch port much more likely and faster to arrive.”

Resonator is made up of duo Steve Copeland and Jeff Spoonhower who, collectively, have worked on such titles as BioShock, Borderlands, and the Uncharted series. An original soundtrack is being composed by Wilbert Roget II, known for soundtracks for games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Lara Croft: Temple of Osiris, and Soul Calibur 5.

Anew: The Distant Light tasks the player character, a child awoken on a distant alien moon, to battle and solve puzzles through an open world. According to the game’s website, the title takes inspiration from Metroid, Cave Story, and Dark Souls.
